I was treated for a brown recluse bite on my mission and it looked much worse

Than the example you posted--darker with two fang marks on top of a huge whitehead, puss-filled sac.

It was disgusting and it hurt. I could also see a red line (doctor said that it implied infection) that went from the bite, up my leg. Not sure if that helps, but how long has it been since you noticed the bite?
