discussion is largely one of semantics. What constitutes athleticism? The only reason I brought up the team sports us that the discussion usually rears its head when comparing between them.
Where I don't concur is the soccer players competing against ANY sport that uses the upper body. The average soccer player would fare well in the races (though, depending on which position football player, baseball player or even the right basketball player, they'd get SMOKED in the 100), but they'd lose massive ground in the discus, jav, shot, and pole vault. And I suspect the hurdles would give them a lot more trouble than NBA or NFL players whose typical play requires them to jump precisely and frequently.
