Despite it being the first home game of the season, BYU failed to sell out LaVell Edwards Stadium against Houston. The reported attendance was 57,630, something Mendenhall noticed. “I was disappointed,” Mendenhall said. “It’s Thursday night, it’s ESPN, and we’re playing a good team. Where is everybody?” Mendenhall certainly hopes fans pack the stadium to capacity this Saturday when the team takes on Virginia. He even joked that he may take it personally if there's too many empty seats. “It’s Saturday at 1:30, so there’s not as many conflicts, I should say. ... If it’s not full I’m going to have my feelings hurt," he said.
I get that it's easier and in some ways more enjoyable to watch the TV on a huge flatscreen in HD. Yet there's nothing like being at the game in person. Additionally, you can always watch the game later on your TV. That's what I did when I lived in Utah. Go to all the home games, and watch them later on TV. That way I get to watch it multiple times. Remember guys, the committee may look at things like attendance when considering BYU for a NY6/playoff spot. We have plenty of fans in Utah. No excuse for LES not to be sold out every single week. This is about the only thing we can directly control as fans - be there, wear blue (or white this weekend) and be freaking loud.
