It is one thing to hit a normal fast ball (yeah no way I could hit Verlander) that goes at a normal trajectory. Hitting a riser is a whole different story. We had a BYU softball pitcher come in for a fluids class I was taking. She pitched everybody the same riser and you got 3 swings. I swung low every time because the ball was higher than I expected. That and the softball mound is closer so it is a whole new ballgame. I think more girls hit the ball than guys and I think guys just aren't used to seeing the ball rise like that.
