Based on what I'm reading these are the only payouts for participation in the semi-final/NY6 games. TV Revenue as detailed followed by $6M for a semi-final game and $4M for any other NY6 that year. This amount apparently does not go up or down regardless of the participating team nor is it prorated or reduced based on the number of participants said league would have (i.e. a team has 3 participants in NY6 but not semi-finals = 3x4=12). There is not much I can find on the payout to the contracted leagues in years those games are semi-final games so I drop those to zero in those years and do not allocate that money to any other team/leauge in those years. There must be somewhere that money goes but as I haven't seen anything definitive yet I took this approach.
There is also using the assumption that is explicitly stated and implied in the above links that after the semi-final participants and required contracts (which includes Rose/Sugar/ACC and Go5 inclusion) are selected that the next highest ranked teams are required to be included in the selection process. I read previously (sorry not one of the links above) that these new contracted agreements are intended to take representatives from their contracted leagues when ever possible and if the conf champ is in the playoffs then the 2nd place or 2nd (next) highest ranked team available from that conference would be selected. I believe there may also be a requirement that the champ of every P5 league has to be selected as well regardless of rank but in the 3 year rotation I did they were all included already in the semi-final or contracted slots and did not cause another wrinkle to occur. That said if it had occurred then it would only ensure that the lower remaing ranked team got left out and not #5 in an effort to take say a #10 as the at-large.
For this exercise I took the final BCS rankings last year (before bowls) and applied it to each of the 3 year rotations for semi-final games.
CFP TV Revenue Payouts (every year)
P5 (ACC/B12/B1G/PAC/SEC) = 71.5% of revenue or ~$250M [$50M per conf]
Go5 (AAC/CUSA/MAC/MWC/Sun) = 27% of revenue or $95M [$19M per conf]
ND = 1% of revenue or $3.5M
Indy = .5% of revenue or $1.75 (3 IND in 2014 = $583K per team; 2 IND in 2015 = $875K per team)
Contracted Bowl TV Revenue Payout (years the contracted leagues play in the game)
Rose = $80M split evenly between B1G/PAC
Sugar = $80M split evenly between B12/SEC
Orange = $55M split evenly between ACC & either B1G/SEC/ND (depending on who participates)
I don't believe I necessarily have anything Earth shattering here and I'm certain there are things not currently documented or things that will change or more will be revealed over time but from the facts that were available in the above sites I thought I'd document it in hopefully an easy to understand way.
Note that Everymancoug mentioned in a previous post believing that all NY6 games would pay out $23.5M in addition to the TV revenue payouts. But I couldn't find evidence to that fact. He did supply a link but it was blocked by my works firewall. My guess is it is an amount that the B1G/PAC would get from the Rose in a year that the Rose is a semi-final game and they may not be playing there. This is significantly less than the $40M they'll get from the Rose in years they do play in it. Again - there is not enough out there for me to include anything else on it.
I also can not fathom where the bowls would be getting an additional $23.5M to payout beyond what they already will be. And would it at all be necessary for leagues that are already taking home between $54-137M a year under the new system to take home more? Well to them of course. But again - where would that money come from. And note that in the past I believe the most ever paid out by a BCS game was about $18M and there were limits on conferences. I think the most that could ever be included was 3 and only if the 1 vs 2 were the same conference. In that scenario the max was $54M but only if the BCS truly paid out max when in reality 2nd teams received a prorated portion of the $18M so no league ever got $54M in the past. Under the new format $54M was the lowest a P5 received with the numbers I just ran. That is a huge jump and understandable with the TV but again - I don't know where or why there would be $23.5M more for every NY6 game as well.....
