There is a kid in my neighborhood who is telling everyone he's about to...
...turn in his mission papers and is ready to go on a mission as soon as he graduates.

Only his mom just told my wife that he had a recent conversation with his bishop in which his bishop told him he needs to separate himself from his girlfriend. And he isn't allowed to bless the sacrament for a while. I'm guessing his papers aren't going to get submitted in the next couple of weeks like he says.

Yeah - I can see how you would want to believe everything a 16-17 year-old kid says. I mean, it is more likely for a coach to make up stuff about reasons for not offering a kid who seems like a good player and wants to come to the school than it is for a kid to make up stuff (or simply mis-estimate the consequences of certain behaviors, thinking they'll go away).
