Never. They're smart to have put that far down
on the eventualities list. Independence would ensure the end of all BYU athletics. Notre Dame is the only school that could pull that off, and even they can just barely do it in football only. That is destined to change as well.
The closer comparable is not Notre Dame, but USU.
