I’ve spent weeks in Europe on T-Mobile and they’ve given me plenty of high speed, I would just up your plan temporarily
To Magenta Max or whatever it is called now and use your regular phone.
In rural areas I have had issues with data not working on roaming towers, but a cheap eSIM plan would have the same issue, make sure you know how to force towers to another tower if that happens and it fixes it.
In the cities, I don’t recall ever having that issue.

just add the travel plan to your service, I have ATT and anytime I am out of the country I pay $10 a day for unlimited
