I think you're overly harsh on the players. They were showing pretty well
trying to get him to pass out if it. They were hitting 3s at a good clip. And imo he got away with some stuff that made him very comfortable.

The problem was in the 2nd half their guards were hitting their 3 pointers. Doubling Williams would have left
