Come on. Hathaway was very good in her most important song: I Dreamed a Dream*. Most underrated performances though were
Redmayne in “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” (He made it arguably more powerful than in the musical)

and Banks as Eponine.

I really disliked Hugh’s vocal performance more than most seem to, but he had potential at least.

Crowe on the other hand… should have never been cast at all. “Stars” made me sad.

Cosette was very meh, but honestly adult Cosette doesn’t really have to bring it.

The Ternardiers were perfect, singing talent or no. That’s the role.

*even better re: I Dreamed a Dream was changing the song order so it doesn’t come until after she’s sold her hair and teeth and joined the brothel. When she says “so different from theirs Hell I’m living” it hits very differently right after she’s finished with the “Captain”. 😬🥺
