Insight on Geilman after knowing him and following him throughout high school
Emerson is a steal for BYU. He was a late bloomer, hence the lack of big name offers and no established recruiting profiles, really gaining momentum the second half of his junior year, and his senior year, where Bountiful won the 5A state title.

As a Junior, he threw 24 TDs and 17 INTs, rushing for 2 TDs. As a Senior, he vastly improved, throwing 24 TDS and 4 INTs, while adding 14 rushing TDs.

He has great size, at 6,4” 201, and has a strong, lively arm. Very capable runner, and knows when to pull it down. He is also very smart, hence his academic success (34 ACT, 4.0 GPA), and the fact he was being recruited by multiple Ivy League schools. He also had an offer from SUU, and was drawing a lot of interest from USU. Weber St, for whatever reason, spurned him early on. There may be other offers I am unaware of.

I do believe he is a mission kid, last I heard. (Which is great considering the recent JUCO eligibility changes).

Finally, he is an incredible kid. I could praise him all day for his off the field conduct, but I’ll just say I have only seen and heard good things, and combined with his on field character, BYU got a winner.

Really excited about this one! Watch some of his film and you will be too. The recruiting profiles, which place a high premium on early success, don’t tell the whole story here.
