I think the OP headline is where the controversy comes from. Wheat and rice are
plants, and if you have a diet full of wheat a rice, you'll probably get fat.

Click through the OP's article, and what it says is this:

eat more fiber dense plants

eat more legumes

eat less saturated fat

eat less sugar

I think the push back is if we're blaming "meat" for obesity. Which I don't think the linked article is saying at all. Obesity comes from overconsumption. And a lot of people find that it's easier to feel full and consume less if they eat a lot of protein and fiber, while reducing common "plants" like wheat and rice.
