Hate to bring this in, but is there a lawsuit to get school’s insurance to help with the years of care she MAY need?
Was there any liability ? Don’t want to bankrupt yourself here. I’m not litigious but it’s worth looking into.
My brother had a decent concussion as a boy, he recovered completely. Took about a year. Wasn’t as bad as your situation but he was pretty messed up for a while.

The closest experience I have with this is with my brother-in-law who developed fat emboli syndrome after fracturing
