Requires a much larger team and way more moving parts. You need way more good players to make yourself elite. And all the reasons listed are why it won't happen.

With basketball, one star player can do it. One guy immediately makes 20% of your starters elite. And in the one and done scenarios, the honor code is much less of an issue.

Getting 20% of your football team to be elite would be like landing 5 5-star players at key positions. But it is even more convoluted because in basketball your star can literally just take over and create his own looks, etc. Even a star QB is reliant on his line blocking and his WR's being good.
