I am a Head XC and Track Coach in the State and my first year stipend as the Head Coach was $2500. After 5 years I got an additional $500 then at 10 years I got another $500. That is the last bump in pay I will receive. Btw, when I get to 20 years my thanks is a Lifetime pass to any UHSAA event I want to attend. Those that were laughing at the .06 an hour I can assure you that I did do the math and the hours I put in and that is accurate. The Districts attitude throughout the state is that if you don't like it then we will find someone else. We get little to no support and have to jump through countless numbers of hoops just to be able to train/coach our athlete's. I love my athletes and have helped dozens go onto the next level (including one who went to the Olympic Trials) and my programs have won State several times. I have had to create a booster club to try and help so that I can even pay my coaches "something" because the school district gives me NOTHING. BTW, I have 12 coaches who help me and my athletes are well taken care of but who knows for how much longer as I cannot compensate my coaches even a fraction of what they are worth. We are asked as Coaches to produce elite athletes by Parents and Administrators but have little to NO resources to do so.
