I don’t think my sophomore has been on time and stayed a full day the entire year. It’s really frustrating as I’ve tried
everything I can think of to get him to school on time and to stay at school all day but nothing works.

To be fair, he finishes every term with around a 3.5 or higher so his argument is always “why do you care? I always finish with good grades and that’s all that matters?”

I then remind him about expectations, responsibilities, accountability, forming good habits etc… but he comes back with, it really shouldn’t matter as long as you get good results.

I partially blame today’s school system. Why are they letting kids turned in late assignments? Why are they letting them retake tests etc?

When I was in HS if you missed an assignment or scored poorly on a test, that was it.

Being a 4.0 student in today’s school system is no where near as impressive as it once was. Schools are full of 4.0 students today because they basically beg students to get all A’s with how lenient they are.
