The guy was moving laterally versus making a move into the backfield. Connor may have thought the guy wasn’t gonna get anywhere near his quarterback doing that.

That said, standing in one place and letting a dude run directly across your face without making more of an effort to so much as impede his path was probably not the best course of action.
