A few years back I had one in a wall. I let him come to me.
My daughter called me into her bathroom to hear some noise. I knew exactly what it was but I also knew that if I divulged much my wife would be in a panic. While that’s often fun to watch, it also meant I would have to tear something apart to get to him and he would take off anyway and I’d tear something apart just to find that Lil’Jerry would leave a “Ha! You lost, sucker!” sign for me. So I kept chill and said I’d keep an eye on it.

Well a couple of days later he came to me. At about midnight I had to wake up to pee. I walked across my bedroom into the master bathroom and apparently I scared this mouse. He used a couple of towels on the bathroom floor to climb up and get on top of the garden bathtub. He slid down into the tub. It is larger than a regular tub, and its walls are steeper. So the mouse caught himself in the tub.

I got a shoebox and a the cardboard from a notepad of paper and scooped him up. I previously have caught mice at a different house (only one or two in twenty years at this house), and different kinds of traps where some don’t totally kill the mouse so I have sat and waited for them to die. This time I just put the shoebox on the front porch in 5-10 degree weather so I was hoping the guy would just freeze before morning. Once morning came and he wasn’t dead I drove a couple of miles to a field and let him go free.

To this day my wife will only use the shower and not the bathtub because the mouse was in the bathtub.
