improvement over the days gone by i.e. BCS, Alliance, 4-team playoff, etc, that doesn't mean that it is not incredibly disappointing to see the obvious corruption and immediate disintegration of what could be an amazing post season construct.
It is very plain that the committee is designed to reserve 9 spots for the SEC and B1G for monetary control of the post season and to impoverish the other conferences. Occasionally, maybe, they will only get 8 due to a combination of team losses, but the BigXII and the ACC are in hardly any better position to secure a spot in the playoff than the MWC or the AAC.... and going forward the PAC 2.0
The SOS metric, head to head metric, and other metrics defined by the committee are being selectively ignored.
Boise is literally ahead of the BigXII and the ACC minus Miami with ZERO signature wins. The Wazzu win is fool's gold and is fading fast. A signature loss is not even remotely justification for placing the Broncos ahead of the Big XII and all ACC teams save one. The Boise schedule is simply unimpressive. They get a cake walk nearly every week.... which psychologically preserves a team let alone helps them avoid the wear and tear of worthy opponents every week. It is far easier to get up for a reasonable game every several weeks than having one week in and week out. To be clear, I'm not opposed to Boise making the playoff, but being ranked ahead of the BigXII with their schedule is bonkers. Being ahead of Big XII teams with two losses in this scenario is bonkers. Being ahead of SMU is bonkers.
Going forward, the Big XII will be essentially on equal footing with the PAC for entrance into the CFP and the PAC teams will have a much easier road to get there.
That's rotten.
The committee is breaking all the standards that they said that they would follow and we haven't even started the games of the first playoff yet.
