I don't recall him saying "they took what the defense gave them".
He said they knew going into the game it might be a low possession game, because both teams generally play slow.
His big takeaway seemed to be that they moved the ball fine but just didn't execute in the redzone. He didn't seem to have any issue with the pace of the game.
It seems to me that in general he is favoring a slower pace of play this season unless they are in a two minute situation.
