I don’t think we know what to do with timeouts at the end of the game.
They are usually gone midway through the half. We probably forgot that we had some.
It’s like the movie “Miracle.” The US is leading Russia by 1 goal at the end of the game. Coach Brooks keeps waiting for the Soviet coach to pull his goalie but he isn’t pulling the goalie. Coach Brooks says, “He doesn't know what to do!” The Soviet coach hasn’t been in that situation before.
