We have 2 chances to get in if we lose:
Before the CCG: We can for sure lose once and still get in the CCG. We may be able to even lose twice and get in. And then if we win, we're not only in, we have a first round bye and the 4th overall seed.
Lose the CCG: Stewart Mandel said yesterday that if we go undefeated and lose the CCG we Will still be in as an at-large. That they won't punish us for losing that game.
Also, if we win out we'll be the 3rd overall seed which is the best case scenario for us (and avoids Ohio St/Oregon until the championship). This absolutely wouldn't have been a possibility if we would have remained independent.
While I see what you're saying, and it is frustrating the SEC and Big10 are getting so many teams in, the facts are that our chances are infinitely better for the playoffs now that we're in the Big12, and that's an amazing thing.
