BigHouse Coug Intervention Needed
Joel Klatt's argument is dumb.
He basically says the calls have to be consistent so you know where the refs have drawn the line the whole game.

First of all he shows no evidence and can't give any examples of calls equal to how bad of a hold that was. He does a lot of assuming without giving any indication he even watched the entire game let alone analyzed any other plays.

2nd of all, that particular play was right in front of the ref so he had a perfect view of it, and Kalani was letting the refs know to look for DBs grabbing our WRs.

3rd of all, the sack was a direct result of the hold because Jake was looking at Jojo who couldn't get open, so it was an example of the hold being a direct result of the outcome of the play.

4th of all, it makes as much sense as telling a cop who pulled you over for speeding that you always drive 75 in a 55 mph zone and never got pulled over before, therefore they should let you go.

5th of all, there is an entire article on SI about someone who did actually analyze every play, Terry McAulay (former NFL official) and found that nothing even came close to the same level of defensive holding during the entire rest of the game.

So it looks to me like our friend, Joel made a lot of careless assumptions for the sake of having a signature take. On the surface it sounds well reasoned but it does not apply to what happened during this game in my opinion.

Having said all that I hate to have to keep talking about this one play just because Yewts can't cope and the media is playing along somewhat. Out of 140 or so plays Yewts had plenty of chances to win the game and plenty of chances after the call was made. In actuality, Harlan pretty much gave up on the Yewts himself when he walked onto the field before the game was over. Great leadership there.

Anyway I want to move on from here. We are 9-0 and Yewts are in the rear view mirror, that thumping sound was them getting run over on the way to 10-0.
