Probably related, years ago Karl Rove described the voting habits of PA.
He said the state has a "great Republican T" in the middle of the state and extending upwards and east and west along the NY border with Pittsburgh and Philly on either side. Right in the middle of that T is the "Appalachian" part of PA. It's total redneckville.
