Not about conference affiliation which is separate from on the field results. I think that's the mistake Utah fans made and make is they thought their results on the field made their program more valuable and worthy, but it's the factors you mention of market and money that drive that with conference affiliation.
I'm talking about BYU getting a subpar ranking because the committee and AP voters don't respect the Big12 conference as a contender. Not because of market and money (although I'm sure that's a factor of sorts) but because they expect a school like BYU would lose to a 1 or 2 loss SEC/B1G/ACC school.
I don't know how to fix that bias that the Big12 is weaker than the other conferences other than to beat them, because it's obvious that bias is already well entrenched only 2 years into the Big12 for us.
