Volume. You just do a lot of them combined with other avenues
of income coming in (the consult fee, the admission fee, reading your echo or monitor), etc. But that's only in about 10% of the time in a true private practice model which is basically dead these days due to decreased direct reimbursement.

So 90%+ of the time the hospital employs that cardiologist so that they have the ability to rake in everything that cardiologist brings in... as that cardiologist can drive 10-20 million in revenue in some situations.

So now it's more of what is that cardiologists' value to the system/hospital.

So not a pity party for that cardiologist. That electrophysiologist is making >800k a year as an employee. Just goes to show how much the third parties are making in all of this.
