There are some conveniences and some inconveniences. But I think they are worth it.
You and others have the inconveniences well documented. Costs for gas, storage, repairs, etc. can stack up.

For me I like the freedom when traveling and the convenience of having all of my stuff in my closet and drawers that are with me. Makes it easier to travel with my dogs too.

We did a 5,000+ mile road trip a couple years ago and having the RV made it better in my opinion. We had some planned stops, along the way, at some parks but we were really exploring for most of it. As we drove the 101 if we came to a cool little town we wanted to explore we'd stop and explore. We didn't feel like we had to get moving to get to our planned hotel a certain distance away and by a certain time. It was a bit more relaxing as we traveled.
