I already did the hard work to pull thousands of games over several seasons and analyze how well the predictions perform. They perform well. Every model will have blind spots. There will be strange behavior. That doesn't mean the model is crap. In fact, it's actually evidence that they are letting the numbers and data flow through and not putting their thumb on the scale. With an algorithmic approach you will get odd behavior and outliers. I do this professionally. I see this all the time.
