Nobel committees to consider the Kalman filter in one of the physics categories, but to no avail. He got a lot of other awards and honors for it, but he was definitely wanting a Nobel Prize.
And honestly, even though less visible than the current AI craze, something akin to a Kalman filter is included in the software of every drone, self-driving car, guided missile, airplane, helicopter, GPS-enabled device, robot, many industrial automation systems, and pretty much every other thing that takes multiple noisy measurements and wants to fuse/filter the data.
