BYU only gets CFB if undefeated.
If you don’t think the Big 12 is playing a game that looks uncomfortably similar to a Republican candidate trying to win a debate, then you aren’t looking very closely.

Consider that despite similar records, there are no Big12 teams in the top 15. None.

What the actual @@@@? <- Flip obviously!

How do the sports writers and coach poll voters justify ranking all the teams from 5 through 15 ahead of anyone on the Big12?

It’s because BYU is leading the league and they all hate BYU. Hate, meaning they don’t want to believe the team can keep going. They assume weakness is coming.

Consider that if the PAC 12 were still in place, and if Utah were 5-0, they’d be ranked #6 or higher. Don’t believe it? Check Oregon.

So how come BYU isn’t ranked that high now?

Is it because their schedule has been weak? No. SOS to date is second only to Bama.
Is it because BYU got ‘lucky’? No. They didn’t get lucky when they called the fake punt or the interception defense to seal the win at Baylor. They are the team their record implies.

Is it because a win in the Big 12 means less than a win in the SEC? Seems like yes but it isn’t justified.

Consider that #2 Texas has only Michigan (a team that had ref help to beat Minnesota) and Mississippi State (beaten by Arizona State) as quality wins in their 5-0 record.

Go through the record of all the top 5 teams and you see the same thing. From before the season started the league has been playing from behind and within the league BYU has been the most discounted. 5-0 against the Vegas spread proves it.

With the reality we see here, the Big 12 only gets one in the CFP unless BYU is undefeated and the conf. Runner up only has 1 loss.

If BYU has one loss and is not CC, they will not be ranked in the top 12, and likely, no B12 at large bid.

The best outcome for the league is that BYU either wins out or tanks hard enough to get out of the way of Kansas State and whoever plays them in the CC.

BYU is snakebit in rankings. Here’s hoping it changes, but I think the media knows where the dollars come from and are ranking SEC/B1G teams accordingly. It is not a fair fight for the Big 12, and doubly for BYU.

Prove me wrong but IMO what we are looking at in rankings is unjustifiable.
