In baseball specifically, D1 is generally not the best option. Better to go JUCO
On top of that, the roster size just got cut by 6 this year, and there are 1500 current D1 athletes are gonna get cut.
To your point, yes there are, but unless the kid is an absolute phenom, a man at 13, then it is a waste of money unless they just want to play more baseball and have fun.
Much better to lift weights and get stronger than to spend money on showcases, tourneys, or camps.
