the time about how great it is down there, and how they'd like to move back...

I respect their opinion, and they lived there... and I didn't, but every time I visit for soccer of whatever, it escapes me why anyone would want to live there. I get it - it's "pleasant" from November to March - but is that it? The rest of the months are unbearable. As someone who likes to run outside throughout the year, I honestly don't know how I'd survive. I would much rather run outside in Utah at 25 degrees, than in the middle of the night in AZ at 85 degrees.
