I am watching for a brilliant strategy. To compete at the highest level, you
must either get the best guys or deploy innovative strategy. I think BYU has achieved success in the past with innovation (e.g. 1980s forward pass use). Innovation means weird / troubling stat lines.

Also, I wonder how much is like a meta game where the real competition is happening at 2nd and 3rd order effects. Jay Hill may be seeing things we don't even know how to talk about. I mean, imagine if there was some contour where allowing yards early in a drive builds fatigue and overconfidence in the offense and saves exactly the right amount of energy in the defense that it actually gives an edge to the defense inside the red zone. Or maybe it is a way to give the offense a false sense of what's working before you shut it down.

I don't know what I'm talking about, but that's my point. The BYU D might have an insight that analysts won't cotton on to for a year. Then everyone will get it and it will be called "Hill's Rope a Dope D" or whatever.
