Whittingham has to decide if he wanted to stay at Utah, where he'd been building...or to go to his alma mater and take the HC job at BYU. And Whittingham chose Utah, but it was close
If Jay Hill is offered the Utah DC job, he'll have a similar decision to make. Hill played at Utah, was a grad assistant at Utah, came up through the coaching ranks at Utah. No other school has as much history and meaning for him...but change is also hard and he's secure where he is. Plus he'd be leaving a bunch of players behind - though the transfer portal makes that less of an issue (for him at least, not for us)
All that said, I think he'd stay at BYU, but there's no guarantee. I've heard from multiple sources how much he loves Utah, so there's at least some risk
