I heard the news mention that Mark's father was a doctor and wondered... Then, a little later (probably during the trial or even before the trial) our kids went for a regularly scheduled visit and were seen by another doctor, because Dr. Hacking was out on family business. We decided at that point that our kids were being seen by a doctor that was the father of a brutal murderer (later verified that this was true).
Dr. Hacking was a great doctor. Our kids liked him. Our youngest called him Dr. Suess, because he was a doctor and had a beard very similar to the one Dr. Seuss had later in life. Dr. Hacking retired not long after that. Our kids (and now grandkids) then switch to be seen by Dr. Brokenleg. Wow! Dr. Hacking and Dr. Brokenleg. Great doctor names. Our dentist for many years, including at that time, was Dr. Paine.
Was Mark ever an actual student at Utah? I know part of the origin of the issues with his wife were in him pretending to be a student, but not actually enrolled or attending classes and the wife somehow discovered that and started asking questions.
