NCAA went to a 12-game regular season in 2006, once playing an FCS team became

common practice. BYU routinely played 12-game regular seasons in the WAC days because they frequently played @ Hawaii. IIRC, BYU volunteered to play at Hawaii seven years in a row. LaVell wanted the 12th game and a free annual trip to Hawaii. Then '89, '90, and '92 happened and we decided that wasn't such a great deal anymore.
