Intervention Needed
We've seen the under throw scenario to chase numerous times
He slows down and adjusts his routes to put himself in a better position to get the ball. He always either catches or or doesn't let the DB catch it

I thought it was a decent read, Jake had no time left, LB in his face, couldn't

I thought when watching again that Jake threw it as if Chase was the one catching it.

Height wasn't the issue on this one...he needed to slow down a half step

High-pointing and fighting for 50-50 balls isn’t one of Epps strengths. I…

I guess that's kinda my point. You can't trust Epps with those 50/50 balls

Sep 17, 9:35am
which is why you don't throw that ball to him in that spot. Like putting Keim...

Yeah that's a fair point. Maybe Retzlaff should have already known this

Chase is also 5-6 inches taller, which is a pretty big difference on that type

Like in every single team sport play, blame doesn't lie 100% with one person.

When the long snapper hikes the ball 4 ft above & 10 yds past the kicker...

I mean I can hypothetical that this scenario pretty easily.

That throw was 5 yards inside and 3-4 yards short of where it should have been.

I agree with this. Jake had the ability to throw that further to a running Epps

Right it was underthrown. But Epps did him no favors by making not adjusting

I've also seen Chase tackle his defender who has the ball, so not always.

The reality is that in college it's not always going to be an absolute perfect

The reality is that ball was nowhere close to where it should have been. Jake

You keep hammering on how the ball was under thrown. I've agreed with that
MaximusMeridius
Sep 17, 10:47am
No, you're ignoring that Kody was rightfully creating an opening between him and

Agreed - he was doing what he was supposed to do. But as a P4 D1 WR, you're

The best WRs can only do so much. That ball had extremely high odds

You're not wrong. I've been saying awhile it's time to give Phillips more reps

Kody Epps is not the same player since his injury...Epps against ND was great!

Yeah, that’s a no. If he actually led him it might been 6. Way under thrown.

You clearly didn't read my post. I said it was under thrown

If you are to split it between the two, it’s 95% Retzlaff/ 5% Epps…
Dwide_Schrude
Sep 17, 7:35am
It was like 5 yards underthrown. Maybe you can give Kody like 5% of the blame.

Completely agree that: ball was way short; Epps strength isn't jump balls; Chase

"Unfortunately it was under thrown" So Jake 99%, Kody 1% of the blame. Got it.
