which is not out of precedent, as the Heisman almost always goes to a player from a top ranked team, even if their STATS don't necessarily measure up to another player. However, they would have rescinded the Heisman, had the last 2 games been included, or happened earlier in the season.
Detmer was awesome in so many ways, and one of my favorite players of all time, as the guy has character that is so much to be admired, but he did win the Heisman by the hair of his chinny-chin-chin.
