Just the first that came to mind.
Most of our great QBs came in when there was another good option, so they could wait around a little if needed to get good.
Retzlaff isn’t one of those this year. (Unless the coaches are totally wrong on GBo)
Beck wasn’t one of those either. Thrown into the fire in ‘03 with a horrible line and got really beat up. Enough damage to his throwing arm that he couldn’t feel the ball in his hand at times.
I don’t think JR is going to be as good as Beck, but I’m not convinced we’ve seen enough to know he won’t get a lot better. It took much longer with Beck.
