Does any runner use MPH rather than min/mile? Why do treadmill companies (which is pretty much every hotel treadmill I’ve ever used) even make treadmills that display MPH?

Very well could be user error. I couldn’t figure out how to change it. I’ll change my rant to why is it the default view
