remember the last time I weighed myself, I use the mirror to judge my results. If you are worried about the scale then your diet is going to be much, much more helpful than working out. I can easily tell when I don't eat well just by looking at myself in the mirror and how I feel.
For me the scale doesn't mean anything, if I were to guess I think I weigh around 230 lbs (I am 6'5"). A couple of years ago I was around 210. I look much better today than I did a few years ago even though I weighed less...muscle can do wonders for the appearance.
Also, the older you get the more careful you need to be when lifting to avoid nagging injuries and setbacks. I injured my shoulder lifting over a year ago lifting too heavy and I had to lay off most weights for a couple of weeks which was really hard.
As you get stronger you will want to push it more, but be careful; just last week I was feeling strong on my squats so I put on 4 plates on each side which was a mistake, I can handle that weight but it did not feel good on my spine. I am no longer trying to bulk like when I was in my 20-30s.
My wife works out each morning with me (which is a fantastic way to spend time together), she is constantly weighing herself and worried if she increased a pound or two, even though she looks amazing. She used to compete in Figure competitions years ago and qualified for nationals so maybe that is why she is always worried about the number on the scale.
Working out each day is more than the physical benefits, it is an emotional release from life and stress. When I miss a morning the day just does not feel right.
FYI: Tomorrow I am going to start a 72-hour water fast...first time ever. I am curious to see the results and how I feel. I have heard it feels so good to cleanse the body. I will have to report on my findings.
