I like Shad and his videos are well done and well thought out, but
I don't agree with him on everything.

The irony is that one of the things that critics complained about when the LOTR was first published, was that the dialogue and prose weren't very good. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

I accept Rings of Power for what it is and am still having fun with it. If a film version of my favorite books had to be perfect before I could enjoy them, then I would be unhappy with most. Although, don't get me started on the movie versions of Starship Troopers...

Some things that I think RoP gets right is:

-The "feel" of Middle Earth, the cultures and landscapes.
-The nature of real friendships, which most of Hollywood doesn't get or wants to turn romantic or sexual in some way. I could watch a whole series just about Elrond and Durin. It would make a great buddy series.
-I like the casting. This may be heresy to some, but Elrond in RoP is better than the Elrond in the LOTR. I also don't care, at all, that non-whites were cast as elves and dwarves. The actors that play Durin's wife, the queen of Numenor, and the warrior elf are really good as those characters.
-I know many will disagree, but I think that Galadrial's character does fit her characterization in The Silmarillian.
-I like how it shows that while the Elves are generally noble, admirable, and above other races, they're also imperfect and make mistakes. However, it also shows that they're also not the ridiculous, vegetarian versions shown in the Hobbit movies.
-The quality of the effects, props, etc., and the cinematography. It's obvious that a ton of money was poured into it. It wasn't wasted.
-It's just nice to spend more time in Middle Earth.

Again, just my opinion.
