Just depends on the visiting authority.
I live 75 minutes away from the stake center. There are quite a few members willing to have us stay in the town that the stake center is located in.
He wanted to be in our home and make visits on Saturday before conference sessions begin. So he and I will make a visit near where I live then drive to near the stake center and make a visit there.
