when you move the colony, you can go check out the old site and see how many
bees are over there. Sounds like you have a good plan.
I noticed that you have a deep and a super for your box. There are lots of configurations, and I am sure that you know that a more common config is two deeps and then use supers for honey harvesting. Guessing you purchased a complete kit and that is what they gave you. You will want to get more boxes soon.
