Yawn...all of these basketball (young/pope) vs. football (sitake) comparisons
are tiresome...and, frankly, intellectually dishonest; a failed premise from the first key stroke. Not saying this in support for or against Sitake, just sick of the dramatically flawed comparisons seemingly everyday on CB. The two sports are entirely different machines, both financially and operationally. Sitake's took over during BYU's march through the wilderness of independence, before universe altering shifts in NCAA policies, including NIL and rev sharing, and entrance into a new league and new financial opportunities and obligations. Further, 1,2 or 3 great players can change the entire trajectory of a basketball team while 1, 2 or 3 great players can be a really good shot in the arm for football, but it takes more to create significant trajectory change in football. The bandwagon effect of recruiting in football is slower and takes more than in basketball. Go cougs.
