I bought my son a Ford Fusion for about that
I'd had one previously and thought it was a decent car. He's had his for a couple years now, and it's been reliable.
It's particularly good for taller/bigger drivers (my son is 6'2", but I have a 6'8" boss who owns one too and he likes it)
