It’s all about money. If the ACC schools can cut the dead weight in their tv
contract by joining the Big 12, and they have no other options, then it makes sense. They would make more money than staying, maybe more than 50% more, so it makes sense to go even though they’re still short of B1G/SEC money.

It the same reason TX/OU went SEC and the PAC schools to the B1G…

Would the Big 12 stay that way long term? I don’t think there is anything more long term than a tv/media rights contract at this point. If you have a good contract, you survive. If not…they’re going to find a way to cut the dead weight to improve their position.
