You know, it’s one thing to criticize citing 109th in total defense if you’re haggling over if it’s better/worse than
Someone else who is 10-25 spots better or worse than that, it’s another thing entirely to act as if 109th isn’t really all that bad.
If we’re talking about 10-25 spots, then you can dive into more advanced analytics and hash out where things really stand and that makes perfect sense. You’re still landing in a spot that isn’t very good regardless.
But I have yet to see any valid example of where a team who is 109th or worse in yards allowed per game was demonstrated to be an above-average defense using advanced analytics.

I wouldn't say that our defense last year was above average however it was much better than the previous year. Also,
