Drove from St. George to Anaheim.
Got stuck in an traffic jam at Baker. For an hour we crept along at less than 5 mph and spent a lot of time just stopped. With going so slow the a/c in our minivan stopped working and was blowing out hot air. I rolled down window and the air outside felt the same as temperature at the air in the car.
The big thermostat at Baker read 125 and the one in our minivan said 121.
Just before we left home my wife has thought to bring along two of those spray bottles that have fans attached. That’s what saved my three kids from losing it. The five year old sat in his car seat spraying water in his face, playing with fan.
It feels almost maddening sitting in a traffic jam in the middle of the desert when it is so hot.
I was grateful my vehicle didn’t overheat, as there were numerous vehicle pulled over.
