Buy the one you can pay cash for and not have a payment. Even if it's ugly.
Then save up some money to buy a nicer one if that's what you want later and sell one you just bought.
Haven't had a car payment in decades and it's been awesome.
Safety and reliability aren't exclusive to newer cars.
